Pond water test kits are an integral part of keeping healthy water and fish. A variety of parameters can be tested including pH, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, and copper. An excess of any of these parameters can have negative consequences and can cause a cascading effect. Fortunately, most of these issues can be easily fixed if they are addressed early enough. Testing the water regularly also provides a basis, so deviations in water parameters are more obvious.
Water quality problems are not always visible to the naked eye, so it is recommended that the water be tested every couple of weeks or when something appears out of the ordinary.
