Keep your aquarium water safe, stable, and crystal clear with the right water treatments.
Water treatments are an essential part of fishkeeping that every aquarium owner should have on hand. From dechlorinators that make tap water safe for fish, to beneficial bacteria that kick-start your nitrogen cycle, to medications that treat disease and infection — the right treatments can mean the difference between a thriving tank and a struggling one.
Whether you’re setting up a brand new aquarium or troubleshooting an existing one, we stock everything you need to get your water right. If you’re unsure what your tank needs, contact us — we’re happy to help with free advice.
Tap water straight from the tap contains chlorine and chloramines — chemicals added by water authorities to make it safe for humans, but highly toxic to fish, shrimp, and the beneficial bacteria your tank relies on. On top of that, a healthy aquarium depends on stable water chemistry, an active nitrogen cycle, and water free from harmful pathogens. Without the right treatments, even a well-maintained tank can quickly run into problems.
We stock a wide range of aquarium water treatments to suit freshwater and saltwater tanks of all sizes. Here are the main types you’ll find:
The most essential treatment in any fishkeeper’s toolkit. Added to tap water before every water change, dechlorinators neutralise chlorine, chloramines, and heavy metals that would otherwise harm your fish and destroy your beneficial bacteria colony. Some conditioners also add a slime coat protector to reduce fish stress.
Bottled bacteria products introduce and boost the live bacteria colonies responsible for processing ammonia and nitrite in your tank — the cornerstone of the nitrogen cycle. These are especially important when cycling a new aquarium, after a disease treatment (which can wipe out your bacteria), or when adding new fish to an established tank.
Even in a well-maintained tank, fish can fall ill. We stock treatments for a wide range of common aquarium diseases including white spot (ich), fungal infections, bacterial infections, fin rot, and parasites. Early treatment is key — the sooner you act, the better the outcome for your fish.
Algae is one of the most common frustrations in the hobby. Algae treatments help bring outbreaks under control, particularly in tanks where lighting or nutrients are hard to manage. Safe for use with most fish and plants when used as directed.
Cloudy water is a common issue, especially in new tanks or after disturbances to the substrate. Water clarifiers help clear up murky, hazy, or discoloured water quickly by clumping fine particles together so your filter can remove them.
