Aquasonic Methylene Blue – White Spot & Fungal Treatment for Freshwater Fish

Aquasonic Methylene Blue is a liquid solution for the treatment and control of white spot disease (Ichthyophthirius Multifiliis) and superficial fungal infections in freshwater aquarium fish. It can also be used to prevent fungal infection on fish eggs, making it a useful tool during breeding.

Methylene Blue is an intensive dyestuff and may cause staining of aquarium equipment. It can also affect the beneficial bacterial flora in biological filters, so care should be taken when dosing in established tanks.

Conditions Treated

• White Spot disease (Ichthyophthirius Multifiliis)
• Superficial fungal infections
• Fungal infection on fish eggs (preventative use)

Dosage

Use at the rate of 5mL per 20 litres of aquarium water. Repeat treatment after 3 days if necessary. Do not overdose. Harmful to corals.

To calculate your tank volume: multiply length x width x water height (all in cm), then divide by 1000 for litres.

Before and During Treatment

• Remove activated carbon and any other absorbent filter media for the duration of treatment.
• Slow the flow rate of sub-gravel filtration while treating.
• Perform a 25% water change before starting treatment.
• Continue 25% water changes every third day until the fish have recovered.
• All fish benefit from a 25% fortnightly water change as general practice.

Important Notes

• For freshwater use only. Harmful to corals – do not use in marine or reef aquariums.
• Toxic to plant life at higher than recommended dose rates.
• May cause staining of aquarium equipment and silicone.
• May adversely affect beneficial bacteria in biological filters.
• Not to be used on fish intended for human consumption.
• Store below 30°C.
