Which Pad Do I Need?
Each pad targets a specific water quality issue. Select the variation that suits your aquarium’s current needs from the product options above.
| MicroPad Code: 10447 | A tightly woven mechanical filter pad that removes fine free-floating particles from the water column. The process is known as “polishing.” Prevents biological media from becoming clogged, reduces disease risk and leaves water crystal clear. Suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums. |
| CarboPad Code: 10448 | A chemical filter pad infused with activated carbon that absorbs residual medications, tannins released from driftwood and dissolved organics, polishing the water and removing discolouration. Important: remove the CarboPad during any medication treatment as it will absorb and neutralise the medication. Suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums. |
| Ammonia Pad Code: 10459 | Ammonia (NH3) is produced by fish respiration, uneaten food and faecal matter and is highly toxic even at low concentrations. The Ammonia Pad actively absorbs ammonia from the water, helping to maintain safe levels and protect fish from stress, disease and oxygen depletion. Particularly useful during new tank cycling or after adding new fish. Suitable for freshwater aquariums. |
| Nitrate Pad Code: 10456 | Absorbs nitrate (NO3) from the water column. High nitrate levels cause kidney, liver and eye damage in fish, suppress appetite and impair gill function. Regular use of a Nitrate Pad can reduce the frequency of water changes required to keep nitrate in check. Suitable for freshwater aquariums. |
| Nitrate + Nitrite Pad Code: 10458 | Targets both nitrite (NO2) and nitrate (NO3) simultaneously. Nitrite is particularly dangerous as it interferes with the ability of fish blood to carry oxygen, essentially causing suffocation. A dual-action pad ideal for tanks experiencing elevated levels of both compounds. Suitable for freshwater aquariums. |
| PhosPad Code: 10460 | Absorbs phosphate (PO4) from aquarium water. Phosphate is one of the primary food sources for algae and builds up over time through overfeeding, poor quality food, lack of water changes and decaying matter. Keeping phosphate low is one of the most effective ways to control algae growth. Suitable for freshwater aquariums. |
| Phos + Nitrate Pad Code: 10457 | A dual-action pad that tackles both phosphate and nitrate at the same time. Ideal for aquariums where both compounds are elevated. Phosphate drives algae growth; nitrate harms fish health. Addressing both simultaneously gives your aquarium the best chance of staying balanced. Suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums. |

⚠️ Important: Replace all filter pads every 4 to 6 weeks without exception. The microscopic pores in each pad will eventually become fully saturated and can begin releasing all the collected waste back into your aquarium, undoing all the good work they’ve been doing. When in doubt, replace it. They’re inexpensive and your fish will thank you.
